Description of the flag

The recently-adopted flag of District 8, International Order of the Blue Gavel. The I.O.B.G. is a worldwide association of past commodores of recognized yacht clubs. District 8 covers the entire State of Florida.

The heraldry of the flag is simple and straightforward: past commodores of yacht clubs wear three silver stars as their insignia of office; the outline of the State of Florida speaks for itself. (Incidentally, current commodores wear three gold stars.) District 8 of the I.O.B.G. is sometimes informally called the "Florida Commodores" for obvious reasons.
