Lobor is a community in the Krapina and Zagorje County, some
20 km east of Krapina - about 4,000
inhabitants (I found several different sources all claiming to
have number from 2001 census, varying the number from 3,600 to
just over 4,000!), only some under 600 living in the village of
the same name. Near by are the ruins of medialav fort Lobor Grad
and the palace of Keglevic family, serving since after World War
I as the hospital. At the begining of WWII the palace was turned
into a concentration camp for Jews, and after the war it has
become a psychiatric hospital, still serving the purpose. The
place Lobor and its vicinity has several important churches and
places of pilgrimage, which may explain the symbols chosen for
the coat of arms.
The coat of arms of Lobor is: per chevron
reaching the cheif gules and argent and in the last a cross
crosslete of the first. The coat of arms is shown in an ad
made by the community in regional newspapers "zagorski
list" (nr. 166 of 22 Dec 2006 - thanks to Tomsilav
Šipek for the info).
The web site of the community does not show the coat of arms nor
the flag, but mentions they have been adopted on 15.09.2006 (they
were presented to public on 26.07.2006, according to Tomislav).
For the flag we have not yet found anything, but there is little
doubt that it includes the coat of arms. I hope to get some
answers from the community web admins.

In the mean time I received an answer from the mayor of the
community of Lobor, Mr. Andrija Smetiško, including the
decision adopting the symnols and nice drawings of the flag and
the gonfalon.
The flag is blue with the yellow outlined coat of arms in the
middle. The ceremonial flag is dark blue
gonfalon bordered yellow and ending with three triangularly
finished tails and edged with golden fringe along the bottom
containing the golden bordered coat of arms in the middle, above
it the name of the community OPCINA arched and LOBOR in stright
line and in the tails ornaments of vine branches, tripple wattle
and oak branches.

The decision refers to the decision of the central authorities
approving the design: Rješenje Središnjeg državnog
ureda za upravu Kl. UP/I-017-01/06- 01/22, urbr. 515-10/06-04-3,
03.05.2006.
The decision blazons the coat of arms very similar to how I did
(in Croatian of course), however it names the cross as being
"repeated (Jerusalem) cross". Now "repeated
cross" is, As far as I know, the standard heraldic name for
this type of corss in Croatian (and in some other languages) in
English termed "a cross crosslete". However, the term
"Jerusalem cross" would, imply something else - notably
with smaller corsses around the main one. Anyway, the typization
of corsses is hardly that precise throughout the history, so I
assume that according to some typizations this may hold true...
The decision does not mention the gonfalon, which is not at all
unusual.

The new 2009
Statutes introduces the description of the symbols adopted in
2006, which is, of course not found in the previous 2001 Statutes:

The local magazine "Loborski
glasnik" includes a nice photo of the community flag in
nr. 8, Christmass, 2007, issue, together with a flag for its
annual manifestation named Janine (St. Anne's Day) celebrated on
the 26. July, this particular photo from 2007. It is he banner of
arms of the community with inscription added.
