The amended flag and arms of Las Cabezas de San Juan were approved by the Municipal Council on 27 November 2008 and submitted on 9 February 2009 to the General Directorate of Local Administration, which confirmed them by Decree on 14 May 2009, published in the Andalusian official gazette (Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía, BOJA) No. 104 on 2 June 2009.

The relevant parts of the Decree are the following:

A border gules with the writing in letters argent fimbriated sable: AYUNTAMIENTO CONSTITUCIONAL DE LAS CABEZAS DE SAN JUAN [Constitutional municipality of Las Cabezas de San Juan].

Coat of Arms

The official description of the coat of arms seems to be incomplete; as shown on the municipal website, the coat of arms has the base of the shield azure with thin waves argent. Wikipedia shows the obsolete version of the coat of arms, which is useful to understand how the coat of arms was amended. The ancient shield has no red border, no waves in the blue base either. The design of the castle and the hands has been "modernized."
