The Province of Córdoba (803,038 inhabitants in 2009; 13,550 sq. km.), located in north-central Andalusia, is divided into 7 "comarcas" and 75 municipalities. The only municipality in the province with more than 50,000 inhabitants is the provincial capital, Córdoba (323,600 inh.)

In place of the "historic" (that is without formal adoption) symbols of the Córdoba Province, new symbols, including the provincial logotype, have been recently officially adopted.
The flag, arms and logotype of the Province of Córdoba were approved by the Provincial Council on 17 December 2008 and submitted on 27 January 2009 to the General Directorate of Local Administration, which confirmed them by Decree on 4 February 2009, published in the Andalusian official gazette (Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía, BOJA) No. 31 on 16 February 2009.
The relevant parts of the Decree are the following:
Coat of arms: Argent a lion rampant gules (red). Border compony of the Royal arms of Castile and Leon, the crowns being removed from the lions. The shield surmounted by a Real crown closed. The shape of the shield shall be Spanish modern, that is oblong and rounded on base, with 6 units in height (from top to base) and 5 units in width (from dexter to sinister edges).Flag: Rectangular flag, one and a half longer than high; of purple colour. In the middle the provincial coat of arms with proper crown, the size of the shield, from the crown to the base being 1/2 of the hoist and the other dimensions made proportional.
The symbols should be registered on the Andalusian Register of Local Entities, with their official written description and graphics (as originally submitted, but unfortunately not apprended to the Decree

Compared to the former flag, the size of the coat of arms is now prescribed and it is now centered (see a photo of the flag.) The other flags reported on the FOTW website should be considered obsolete; legally, only the flags registered on Andalusian Register of Local Entities can be used.

According to the Manual del Estado Español (Handbook of the Spanish State, Spanish text only) by Editorial Lama:
Pascal Vagnat, 16 July 1999
The original text specifies that the [vertical] axis of the coat-of-arms is set one third of the flag's [length] off from the hoist.
António Martins, 16 July 1999
The flag is apparently very similar to that of Córdoba City but with a purple instead of red field (plus perhaps a closed instead of open royal crown).
