The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a public university in Greensboro, North Carolina and is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina system. THE UNIVERSITY FLAGThere is a large example of the seal at the beginning of the program. It shows a right-facing profile of the helmeted head of Minerva, surrounded by crossed olive (?) fronds. The ring of the seal bears THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA above (approx. from the 8 o'clock position to the 4 o'clock) and GREENSBORO below. 1891 appears to the right of the goddess's neck. On the program the seal is shown in gold on white. The University Flag made its debut on campus in the academic procession of Patricia A. Sullivan's installation as Chancellor of the University on October 2, 1995. The flag bears the traditional colors of gold and white, which were first used in the commencement ceremony of 1894, as well as navy, which was added as the third color in 1987. The University Seal, depicting the Likeness of Minerva, appears on both sides of the flag.
