Description of the flag

A red triangular flag with the county seal, a blue disk with pale yellow county map and deep yellow star, surrounded by a green ring with community names. The county name is written vertically down the hoist, and the state name in the fly, in black.
Phil Nelson, 9 November 2003

This red pennant centers on a blue circle with a map of Fayette County. A gold star marks Washington Courthouse, the county seat. Ten stars and the names of the ten townships make a green ring around the map. The county was named for the Marquis de Lafayette, an honorary American citizen and a Major General in the Revolutionary War.
