Twenty miles south of Indianapolis and 90 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky, on I-65 and U.S. 31, is Franklin (population 14,000). Franklin is named after one of our nations founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin. Franklin, located in the heart of Johnson county, serves as the county seat. Its location has allowed it to maintain its small town identity and integrity while benefiting from the growth and economy of the Indianapolis MSA.

The flag is a white field, with a blue border inside the edge, and a central emblem bearing a silhouette of B. Franklin, with the city and state names arched above and below the circle.  Five white stars lie above the silhouette, and the date 1823 below it.
