About the flag

Flag with two horsemen is a flag of Borisoglyebskiy municipal district (it is a district in Yaroslavl oblast; administrative centre of the district is posëlok Borisoglyebskiy.
Victor Lomantsov, 02 Dec 2002

The flag shows the princes Boris and Gleb (from whom the city was named), the two “good” sons of Vladimir, the first christian king of Russia. They show on this flag in their usual outfits: Boris beared and riding a black horse, dressed in green and with red mantle, boots and flag; Gleb shaved and riding a red horse, dressed in red and with green mantle, boots and flag (or is it the other way around?). This is the way these two are shown on old religious paintings (icons).
António Martins, 04 Apr 2000

Boris and Gleb were murdered by a brother of the other sort, and are considered saints.
