About the flag

The flag is gyronny of eight, blue and yellow; in the center, the coat of arms. These are: or, a castle azure, open or, with two doves argent, each perched on each of the lateral towers, both facing the center of the shield, in chief, the cross of the Order of Christ’s Knights. Mural crown argent with five apparent towers (city rank) and white scroll reading "POMBAL" in black upper case letters. The word "pombal" means "pigeon house" so here we have here some canting arms.
