Gierałtowice - rural commune, Gliwice County, Śląskie Voivodship - German name: Gieraltowitz.
Gmina Gierałtowice is a rural gmina (commune) in Gliwice County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Gierałtowice, which lies approximately 41 kilometres (25 mi) east of Gliwice and 21 km (13 mi) north-east of the regional capital Katowice.
Area: 39 sq.km (15.1 sq.mi); Population: 10,680 (2006).
Established, probably, around 1280-90. Name comes most likely from the leader of the first settlers - one Gerhard (polonized into "Gieralt").
After WW I, Silesian Uprisings and the plebiscite, included in Polish Second Republic.

Arms and flag adopted on April 28, 2005 (resolution # XXXIII/197/05).
"Arms: on the blue, late-gothic shield there is a silver castle with the main gate-tower flanked by two smaller towers. Windows - black.
In front of the open gate there is a sheaf of four wheat stalks - in gold.
The structure represents the historic castles and mansions on the territory of the commune.
Four windows stand for four "solectwo" - sub-units or villages of the commune and its color - black - symbolizes the coal mining industry there.
Wheat stalks remind the agricultural character of the commune and the colors blue and gold correspond to the traditional colors of Silesia.

Flag: a rectangle in the ratio 5:8 composed of three uneven horizontal bands in the proportions 1:3:1 and in colors: white-blue-yellow.
On the wide, blue band there is a Coat of Arms placed in the proportional distance from the hoist = 1/8 of the length of the flag. The Arms height is proportionally 2/5 of the height of the flag.
The flag is double-sided and its left side is a mirror image of the right one."
The seat of the commune - village of Gierałtowice has a different Coat of Arms
