About the flag

The three waves represent the old three communes Fræna, Hustad and Bud. The waves because of the dangerous sea outside the commune - Hustadvika.
Rune AD Myhre, 22 January 2004

The 'kommune' of Fræna (368 sq. km; 9,010 inhabitants; capital city, Elnesva°gen) is located north of Molde, the capital city of the 'fylke' of Møre and Romsdal.

According to 'Flagg og Våpen', the arms of Fræna show three blue waves on a yellow shield.
Ivan Sache, 22 January 2004

As usual with Norwegian civic flags, Fræena's flag is indeed a banner of the arms - blue waves on a yellow field. A fairly common mistake among Norwegian communes is to place the shield against a white background to create a shield-on-a-bed sheet kind of flag.
