Description

The flag of the Malta Police is similar [to the Commissioner of Police pennant] but in the 2:3 ratio.

Adrian Strickland, 30 November 2000

[The above] illustration is very good. You might like to check it with fig. 49 on page 42 of Strickland 1992. The illustration there is a copy of the official Malta Police hand out at the time. The lower part of the strap scroll is not in yellow as in the above illustration, otherwise I feel António Martins's image is correct in all respects.

I have a photograph of an actual Malta Police Flag, and this differs from the Official Handout as follows. The circle bearing the title Pulizija Ta' Malta is not made as a strap, with a buckle as in the official handout, but as an actual circle, with the wording in capitals, and distributed so that PULIZIJA is placed centrally at the top and TA' MALTA is placed centrally at the bottom of the circle. The words are in white (silver) on a blue (lighter than the field) circle, which is fimbriated in white, the words are separated by golden discs at 3 and 9 o'clock. I do not know which is more correct, the official handout (printed) or the flag actually flown!

Commissioner of the Police Force

[Commissioner of the Police Force (Malta)]
by António Martins

From the Maltese Government Official Website:"The pennant (...) used by the Commissioner of the Police Force consists of a blue field with the symbol of the Police Force at its centre."

The Commissioner of Police has a blue pennant with a silver representation of the Malta Police badge in the centre.
