Overview

Viesintos (Anyksciai District) - on a blue field a flying golden-armed silver dove holding a silver book with a golden star on the cover. Flag proportions 5:6, free edges bordered with a silver rope, finial is a silver lance head and golden bands, staff is white. The charge symbolizes the active nonviolent resistance of local people during the times of the prohibition of the Lithuanian language (1864-1904): their participation and support for underground organizations "knygnesiai" ("book carriers") was very remarkable.
