Kavarskas (Anyksciai District) - on a blue field a golden
sword stabbed into a green hill and silver water springing
from stabbing hole. Flag proportions 10:11, free edges
bordered with a golden stripe, finial is a golden knob, staff is
dark grey.
The charge reflects the local folk tale about the
spring of mineral water in Kavarskas: once the old chief of army
had to choose his successor. So he stabbed his sword into
earth down to the hilt, and said that the warrior who
will succeed him will pull the sword out. Many warriors tried,
but only one was able to do that. When he took the sword out, the
spurt of healthful water sprung..
The shape of the charge is also similar to the 20 meters high
cross built in the town in 1936. The Soviet regime tried to
destroy it many times, but the citizens of the town defended
it each time.
