Overview

Tét is a large village in Győr-Moson-Sopron County in Hungary between the Town of Pápa (21 km north) and City of Győr (24 km south) in the Little Hungarian Plains. The settlement has got 4.252 inhabitants (1990 census), near all of Hungarians. One of the Official Ethnic Minorities of Hungary has got ethnic council in the village. The Gipsy. Neighbouring settlements are: Rábaszentmihály, Kisbabot, Rábaszentmiklós, Mórichida, Gyömöre, Felpéc, Győrszemere villages and Győr city. In 1910 Tét was a village in the Sokoróalja district of Győr County. Number of inhabitants in 1910: 4.111; 4.103 (99,8%) Hungarian and 8 (0,2%) others by mother tongue, 1.935 (47,1%) Lutheran, 1.890 (46,0%) Roman Catholic, 432 (10,5%) Jew and 52 (1,3%) other by religion. 1920-1946 in Győr-Moson-Pozsony County, 1946-1949 in Győr-Moson County and 1950-now in Győr-Sopron (from 1990 Győr-Moson-Sopron) County. Tét became a town (Város) in 2001.
The flag, the coat or arms and the seal were adopted on 10th May 1997. Ratio of the flag: 2:3.

Description about the coat or arms:
Standing shield divided into four fields. In the left and top field there are a silver ploughshare and coulter relate to the old seal of Tét village from 1697. In the second field there is a gold draw-well with a silver pail relates to the old seal of Szentkút (Holy Well) village (now part of Tét with a beautiful Baroque church) from 1779. The gold crucifix and the black eagle in the third, blue field was the coat of arms of the Kisfaludy Family, relate to the famous celebrity of the settlement. The silver arm with silver sabre and gold star in the blue field was the coat of arms of the Poky Family, which family was the landlord of Tét. The silver wavy stripe relates to the Csángota Brook.
