Overview

On the community site <www.brckovljani.hr> one may find decision: Odluka o osnivanju Povjerenstva za utvrdivanje prijedloga grba i zastave Opcine Brckovljani, 02.05.2002. Služebni glasnik Opcine Brckovljani, br. 5/02
This reveals that in May 2002 the community formed a commission to determine a proposal for the coat of arms and the flag. This means, I guess, that the community is still way from getting the symbols, but at least they made the first steps on that way.
Željko Heimer, 14 November 2002

Brckovljani is a community in Zagreb County with slightly over 5,000 inhabitants (1991 census), while the main vilage of the same name had merly 700 inhabitants. The Brckovljani Community is on the main road between Zagreb and Dugo Selo.
Some time ago I reported that the community established a commission to adopted the symbols. Now, they did. According to a news article "Opcina Brckovljani dobila grb i zastavu", Dugoselska kronika, br. 450, 20. 03. 2004 available on line on <www.brckovljani.hr> the community assembly adopted the symbols on 3 March 2004.
The coat of arms is divided per bend or and vert, overall a Maltese cross argent and over it a cup or, in chief siniter a wheat stalk and in base dexter a bunch of grapes both also or. The bunch of grapes and the wheat both have 13 elements for the 13 vilages composting the community. The Maltes cross reminds on the Order of St. John that had a monastery in Brckovljani, and the cup stand for the vine industry developed there.
The flag is red with the coat of arms in the middle and the name of the community below.

The documents on the process of adoption of the symbols are available on line: Odluka o osnivanju Povjerenstva za utvrdivanje prijedloga grba i zastave Opcine Brckovljani, 02.05.2002. Služebni glasnik Opcine Brckovljani, br. 5/02, 19.04.2002 at <www.brckovljani.hr/god_IX_br_05_t04.htm, Natjecaj za likovno i grficko rješenje grba i zastave Opcine Brckovljani, 06.05.2003, Službeni glasnik Opcine Brckovljani, br. 4/03, 30.05.2003 at <www.brckovljani.hr/god_10_br_04_t01.htm> and Odluka o grbu i zastavi opcine Brckovljani, 19.05.2004, Službeni glasnik Opcine Brckovljani, br. 4/04, 02.06.2004 at <www.brckovljani.hr/god_11_br_04_t02.htm>.
What I noticed is that the name "Brckovljani" is stated to be written below the coat of arms in "script" letters. However, the drawings of the flag that we have seen have more or less ordirary font that I would hardly call handwritten (even though it is a bit more "stylish" then the Times font I used for my drawing).
The adoption date is, therefore 19 May 2004 and not the date in March as reported by the local magazine (probably at that day an other forum in the community decided that this is the design they shall propose to the assebly for adoption).
