Hrvace is a community in the Split-Dalmatia County, about 50
km north of Split, between cities of
Sinj and Knin in the Cetina valley.
The community consists of 11 villages with over 4,100
inhabitants. The larges, after which the community is named has
over 1600 inhabitants and has a long history (mentioned already
in 15th century in king Matthias Corvinus documents), while its
name is obviously a variant of the Croat national name. In the
territory of the community is the Peruca dam with hydroelectric
plant (largest in Croatia) and the artificial lake behind it.
The coat of arms of Hrvace is: Azure a bird (nightingale?)
holding a vine branch with a bunch of grapes and a leaf standing
on a peka dish all or. The peka is a kind of a
cutlery ironware used for preparing food set under it and then
covered with inflamed cinder, being traditional culinary method
in the region.
The flag is most probably also adopted, but I have no info as
yet.

A website on Dalmatian
cooking seems to indicate that the "peka" is indeed
a local tool, since there is no English translation provided
(while the site is written in English, with translations of some
other specific words).

The web site of the local church choir includes photos from
the 2008 and 2009 celebrations of the Day of the Community of
Hrvace where the flag is clearly seen. Maybe the best photo is at
<web.vip.hr>
although there are several more showing it.
The flag is blue with the coat of arms bordered golden in the
centre of it.
