Overview

Novi Golubovec is a community in the Krapina-Zagorje County, seceeded in 1997 from Mihovljan community. About 35 km north of Zagreb, 10 km east of Krapina.
The coat of arms of Novi Golubovec is: Vert a dove displayed argent an in base two minings hammers sable in saltire. The dove (in Croatian golub) is canting the place name and the two hammers remind to the coal mines that brought prosperity to Golubovec even if they are now closed for over 30 years. The flag is not reported, but it is highly probable that it exists. The coat of arms is based on some tourist leaflets reported by Tomislav Šipek

Tomislav šipek forwarded a photo from the community assembly of Novi Golubovec. The photo showes the ceremonial flag of the community, although not very clearly, enough so that I am confident to draw reasonably faitful drawing of the flag. There is little doubt that the normal flag would be rectangular, 1:2, yellow as the ceremonial flag, with the coat of arms in the middle. The Ceremonial Flag is a yellow golfanon with three rectangular tails containing green oak ornaments, the coat of arms in the middle and the name of the community in green letters above. The use of green for lettering is quite unexpected, but matches the design nicely. "Golub" is a name of the bird shown in the coat of arms that is conviniently translated to dove, but more correctly pigeon. In Croatian there is no clear conenction between the bird and colour - even if indeed sometimes used in expression as "pigeon gray" it is far from imidiate association; and surely not connected with a shade of blue as it is in Russian.

At the web site of the County <www.kr-zag-zupanija.hr> there are available official gazettes since 2001 from which mostly this is compiled to update info we currently have.
Novi Golubovec - Odluka o grbu i zastavi Opcine Novi Golubovec, 25.10.2002, Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, br. 15/02, 18.11.2002.
The decision adopts the symbols we already reported. The ceremonial flag is not mentioned (but this is not unusual).

The dove should be looking towads the hoist (i.e. to dexter). There is error in the source "Turist plus" of 2003. They probably made the error in printing, mirroring the image, which is not uncomon.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company from Rijeka.

The 2006 Statutes introduces the description of the coat of arms and the flag as adopted in 2002: Statut Opcine Novi Golubovec, 25.01.2006, Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, br. 2/2006, 01.02.2006.
