Overview

Kloštar Podravski, community of about 5800 inhabitants about 30 km SE from Koprivnica and about 5 km SE of
Šurdevac (down the river Drava). The coat of arms image is shown on the primary school site while the coat of arms and flag are described in the 2001 statutes issued in the official gazette (available on -line at <www.glasila.hr>): Statut Opcine Kloštar Podravski, 20. rujna 2001. Službeni glasnik Koprivnicko-križevacke županije, br. 11/01, god. IX, 5. listopada 2001.
The coat of arms showes in a blue shield silver representation of the Holly Familly fleing to Egypt with golden stars as halos. It is said in the Statutes that this is the historical coat of arms of Kloštar Podravski, though more details are not provided.
The flag is blue with yellow bordered coat of arms in the middle.
On a side note, the compositon has a certain "European" feeling, I guess due to the yellow stars in blue. I don't think that this was particularly intentional.

The Ministry of Administration approved the design on 18 April 1996. The design is made by Šuka Domovic, as I learned from conversation with Koprivnica Museum curator, after almost identical original idea and design submited to the concourse by Draženka Jalšic Ernecic.
It is claimed in the Statutes that this is the historical coat of arms of Kloštar Podravski, but there is no support for his claim and Dražen Ernecic confirmed that this is a new devised symbol.
I believe that the word "historical" got in the text of the Statutes as the community was copying wording from some other community statutes used as template. It just happened that the "template" community indeed had a historical pattern to look after. As this is just a speculation, I wouldn't go that far as to speculate which one that may have been.

The several last issues of the County official gazette includes the new community statute that include description of coat of arms/flag. It is only repeating what was stated in previous statutes, already mentioned above: Statut Opcine Kloštar Podravski, 13.07.2009, Službeni glasnik Koprivnicko-križevacke županije, br. 10/2009, 16.08.2009. str. 916.
