Overview

Donji Vidovec is a community in the Medimurje County, about 30 km east of Cakovec, just under 1,600 inhabitants in a single village of the same name.
The web site of the community includes what seems to be a tiny Coat of Arms, however from the local magazine available in PDF: Vidovske crtice, Glasilo opcine Donji Vidovec, br. 1, 2009, p. 6: "Prijedlozi grba Opcine Donji Vidovec", Mladen Grubic, we learn that this is still only a proposal. A variant of golden background instead of the blue is show in the magazine as well. The same two drawings on "counterchanged" background are shown also at the unofficial news blog and there also clearly labeled as proposals.
The Coat of Arms is azure two swords argent hilted or in saltire and in chief scales or.
The magazine includes explanation of the symbolic: The Coat of Arms symbolizes the centuries long struggle for survival, fight against the Turks and other conquerors, with the crossed swords in an medieval shield, while the goldsmith's scales symbolise the renown Vidovec's placer gold miners (washing up gold from the Drava river is traditional in Vidovec, my comment). The blue version of the shield symbolises the surrundedness by waters, while the golden version stands for gold-rich rivers and placer miners.
I take the background colouring on the aforementioned blog as indication of the proposed flag to be either yellow (for blue shield) or blue (for gold shield).
Hopefully, we shall get some mor enews soon - however, if I may try to predict anything - the blue version of the Coat of Arms proposal has a very big chance of being approved by the Minsitry (maybe in a more standard shield shape eventually).

Shouldn't that be "...two swords argent hilted or guard and pomel sable etc"?
Chris Southworth, 29 september 2009

It probably should, but I doubt that the official blazon is that detailed (there is no yet official balzon anyway, since it is a proposal) - in any case, it shall still have to be confirmed about details.
