Today, a venerable Spanish company: La Flecha ("arrow") or CLF in short. A description is given at cabinclass.com:
the line's house flag which features the line's initials in white on six horizontal alternating red and blue stripes.Blue uppermost, incidentally the letters are spread over the centre two stripes.
The plate on the page (quote) was "liberated" by a U.S. sailor on board the USS New York on April 22, 1898. The plate was taken as a souvenir from the vessel "Pedro," which was the first ship captured while attempting to run the Cuban Blockade which went into effect on that date. (Tsk, tsk!)
The on-line 1912 Lloyds Flags & Funnels shows this very flag under No. 1052 as Compaņia La Flecha, Bilbao (G.H. Fletcher & Co., Liverpool), the Fletcher connection indicating management services. Both firms and the Pedro were the subject of a US Supreme Court ruling, but that is all Ive been able to find so far on this firm, though Id like to mention that CLF is also featured on Aingeru Astuis impressive site.
