The Royal Order of 19th August 1911 (Colección Legislativa de la Armada no. 264/1911) adopts the ensign for ships belonging to the Army which operated in North African waters 1911-1931. It is identical to the war ensign only adding the caption "COMPAÑIA DE MAR" (sea company) in black lettering below the arms. The Order does not specify the black colour but a (post-1931) Republican one did, since it modified the colour from black to white (which stood out better against the wider, purple stripe).
