The flag and arms of Arquillos were approved by the Municipal Council on 3 March 2006 and submitted the same day to the General Directorate of Local Administration, which confirmed them by Decree on 10 March 2006, published in the Andalusian official gazette (Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía, BOJA) No. 58 on 27 March 2006.
The relevant parts of the Decree are the following:

Relating the inauguration of the revamped town hall and of the flag and arms of Arquillos ("Ideal," 8 October 2006), José Antonio García Márquez explains that the coat of arms used before the adoption of the present one was unofficial and based on the arms of the neighbouring town of Baeza, of which Arquillos depended in the past. The monogram "C III" stands for Charles III, recalling that Arquillos was part of the settlement plan decided by the king for the Sierra Morena. The 12 stars are a Marian symbol, as described in the Book of Revelation. The flag of Arquillos was sketched by Jesús Solano and designed by the expert in vexillology Vicente Tocino. As on the shield, the crenellated line represents the fortress of Arquillos.
