Description

"The flag of Elda, said to be very old, is red with the coat of arms in the middle. The arms are Gules a facade wall flanked by two towers crenellated proper, open portals sable and in chief a fleur-de-lis argent. The shield surmounted by an open crown and flanked by branches of palm and olive tied gules in base.

The fleur-de-lis recalls that the town took the Bourbon part during the War of the Spanish Succession, as opposed to most Valencian towns, which had joined the party of the Archduke of Austria."
