Description of flag: It is a horizontal 8-stripes flag with alternating red and white stripes starting with a red one. It has a white canton with a red cock sitting on a red oar within a red circle.In the topend of the canton there are dotted red capital letters:"F.R.C." In the bottom of the canton there are red numbers: "18" (hoist) and 82 (flyend).

The colors red and white symbolize the Hanseatic tradition of the city of Frankfurt (Oder) and the colours of country Brandenburg. The red cock is from the coat of arms of the city of Frankfurt (Oder). The paddle stands for the aquatic sports on the river Oder.
Nice to know that Frankfurt (Oder) and France have the same logo - the cockerel - kukelekuuuu!

There was a time when kidding with gallus was not permitted. In 1875, the chemist Lecoq de Boisbaudran called "gallium" the chemical element he had found (Ga, #31, today's very popular for its arseniure) both as a tribute to his name (coq) and France. In 1885, Winkler found #32 and called it germanium (Ge, #32). And there is also an element called hahnium (Ha, #105, half-life c. 1 second, not even the time to sing cocorico), discovered in 1970 and named after Otto Hahn!
