Description of flag:
The flags ratio is 3:5. It is a blue over yellow horizontal bicolour
with the coat of arms in the centre of the blue stripe.
Description of coat of arms:
It is a golden (=yellow) gate in a blue field. The gate has an open
door and is topped by two towers and a gable.
Meaning:
The image appeared first on a seal of 1473. The colours had been chosen
in 1911, being the colours of the counts of Nassau, former rulers in Siegen
region.
Authorized: 24 June 1970 by Regierungspräsident Arnsberg (though denoted
as "flag" probably only banner)
Note:
The flag is painted according to Klemens STADLER, images by Max REINHART:
"Deutsche Wappen Bd.VII Nordrhein-Westfalen" Bremen 1972; p.41, whose open
door was painted blue. VEDDELER painted the door in yellow colour.
