Description of banner:
It is a 7-stripes banner with alternating vertical black and white
stripes starting with a black one. In a white square at the banners topend
is the coat of arms of the city.
Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per pale. The dexter side shows a silver (=white)
annulet in a black field. The sinister side shows a black cross in a silver
(=white) field.
Meaning:
The cross is taken from the coat of arms of the electorate of Cologne
for being rulers of Vest Recklinghausen. The annulet is taken from the
coat of arms of the local kin of Vrydach. The Vrydachs had three annulets
in their coat of arms.
