The sources below confirm that the emblems of all three services (Police, Fire and Emergency Service)appear on their flags. The fire service flag is based upon the State flag, save that the fire service emblem appears in full colour where the representation of the Sturt's Desert Rose is located. However, due to the colour balance of the source documents referred to below, it is not possible to confirm the precise shade. It could be ochre, or it could be red. Partial and / or discoloured by the sun images only appear in official sources on the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergencey Service (NTPFES) web site.

The centre of the desert rose features a phoenix and flames. The usual fire axes appears in saltire, together with a flaming torch all behind the desert rose. The motto-scroll appears at the base of the badge in yellow with the text "To Serve and Protect".

The evolution of the badge is detailed at the website Cap Badges of the Northern Territory Fire Service. Some changes included the renaming of the service from the Northern Territory Fire Service to the present Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service, and the phoenix was an eagle rather in the past.
