Montana State University, in Bozeman, Montana, was founded in 1893. MSU is a fully accredited general purpose university, offering academic degrees from the bachelor's level to the doctoral level, in a wide range of majors and professional certifications. The university serves approximately 12,000 students. The Montana State University website is at: http://www.montana.edu//a>
A general purpose flag, showing the Montana State University "M" brand and the name of the university. If you are not familiar with the American West, cattle are (were?) "branded" with a mark of the ranch owner's choosing, identifying that particular cow as being owned by one particular ranch. Montana State University uses a stylized "brand" type logo (called the "Flame M"); this is presented in this flag. No, there are no MSU cows with this brand on them, at least none that I'm aware of.

1. A sports flag showing the MSU Bobcat head and the name of the university. I've personally seen this design used often.

2. A second sports flag design, showing a slightly different MSU Bobcat head, the name of the university and the word BOBCATS. I've seen this alternate design used often as well.
