Ricks College was a liberal arts college located in Rexburg, Idaho, and was affiliated with the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons). The institution was founded in 1888, even before Idaho achieved statehood, and pursued an independent existence for over a century, as witnessed by the Centennial flag. Eventually, however, Brigham Young University, the major LDS/Mormon institution of higher education worldwide, obtained control of the college and renamed it Brigham Young University - Idaho. Brigham Young now has three campuses, one in Laie, Hawaii, and known as Brigham Young University of the Pacific (the name tends to change frequently) which was established by the university, and Brigham Young University - Idaho,
which is the former Ricks College.
