The NAVA image at www.nava.org/.../RapidCity.jpg and shown in Kaye 2004 and
Purcell 2003 shows a white flag with a smallish golden yellow logo-seal centered on it and offset to the bottom, below two lines of centered text set in Brush Script typeface and reading, in dark red, "Star of
the West" above "Rapid City, South Dakota" in (very) dark blue.
The logo-seal is circular, its edge fitted with 48 (?) outward pointing tips. On the center a white disc with a monochrome representation of the Mt. Rushmore monument, reading "incorporated" above it and "1882" below, in sans-serif capitals. The rim of the seal is filled with two white arches with semi-circular caps separated by two white large dots. The upper one reads "Rapid City" and the lower one reads "South Dakota", in sans-serif capitals. On the flag, as said, this design is shown in golden yellow and white.
