Phil Nelson, 9 November 2003
This light blue flag shows a sunrise in the central oval. The scene includes gently rolling fields and a two-lane highway. Seven yellow rays and six white rays beam out from the yellow sun. The oval picture is surrounded by a brown band with fourteen yellow stars, and the date the county was established, 1824. The county was named after Major Andrew H. Holmes, who was killed in the attack on Fort Mackinac in 1814.
