RESOLUTION OF THE BOROUGH OF MADISON ADOPTING AN OFFICIAL BOROUGH FLAG
WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended that the Borough adopt the flag designed by
the late John Morris as the official flag of the Borough of Madison: and
WHEREAS, the Borough Council agrees with and endorses such recommendation; and
WHEREAS, the flag consists of a white background with red bar being on that
portion of the flag which is adjacent to the pole it is to be mounted on and a
prominent red rose centered in the white area of the flag with the words
“Madison New Jersey” along the bottom of the rose and the words “Inc. 1889” in
the upper corner opposite the red bar; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council noted that the flag was designed by former
Council Member John R. Morris and has been displayed at prior Borough functions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Borough of Madison, in the
County of Morris, State of New Jersey that the Borough of Madison hereby adopts
as the official flag of the Borough the flag designed by John R. Morris which
consists of a white background with red bar being on that portion of the flag
which is adjacent to the pole it is to be mounted on and prominent red rose
centered in the white area of the flag with the words “Madison New Jersey” along
the bottom of the rose and the words “Inc. 1889” in the upper corner opposite
the red bar.
