Description of the Flag

Based on information from Walker County Messenger:

  • designed by 16 year old Joshua Hood, 2 February 2004
  • the three-stripe design was chosen because most of the cities around have a solid color design
  • orange, black and white represent the middle and high schools in LaFayette
  • emblazoned with the city seal, surrounded by "LaFayette, Ga. 1833," the year the city became the Walker County seat.

A subsequent article in the Walker County Messenger reported that the flag was approved by the City Council by 10 March 2005 (date of posting). The article also shows a photo of the flag behind the designer.
