"On March 4, 2005 the Mesa City Council voted unanimously to adopt a flag designed by Mesa resident Mary Jean Crider. This is the first time the City of Mesa has adopted an official flag. The flag is displayed in the Upper City Council Chambers, 57 E. First St".

The NAVA image at http://www.nava.org/Flag%20Design/City%20Survey%202004/city_flag_photos/Mesa.jpg and shown in Kaye (2004) and American City Flags is white with a logo and lettering. The logo is a square divided red over blue by a thin white "V" line, the blue being a dark, slightly greenish shade (petrol blue?) and the red being a gradient from medium red to golden yellow, the whole suggesting a mountain sunset. To the right and on the same baseline "City of Mesa" composed in two lines of wide sans-serif capitals, "City of" much lighter, and below this and the logo the motto "Great People, Quality Service", set in bold italic serif letters.

This flag, as shown in Kaye (2004) and American City Flags, appears to be an earlier but unofficial one, as it is noted above (referring to the new flag) that "this is the first time the City of Mesa has adopted an official flag".

John Purcell's "American City Flags" says the colors are orange over turquoise (pp. 212-213). It labels the logo version as "official status unknown" and adds "The flag (or banner) is displayed only in the lobby of the municipal building and in city booths at various events and has not actually flown outdoors."
