The Flag

From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"A flag was confirmed  at April, 20, 2000 by decision No. 16/4 of city council. There is Donets'ka oblast' flag in the left overhead linen corner. There are four star - green, white, yellow and black - in tha fleg. A green star symbolizes riches of natural edge. Silver symbolizes spiritual traditions. Yellow symbolizes metallurgical industry. Black symbolizes coal industry."

From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"The modern emblem was confirmed at April, 20, 2000 by decision No. 16/4 of city council. A field per fess by or barrulet on azure and sable. There is or sun with six falcate rays in the first part. There are two crossed or hammers and or number "1777" under them. The emblem adorned by decorative cartouche, crowned by argent mauerkrone with three towers and enframed by feather-grass twined by vert ribbon with or superscription "Makiivka".
A sun symbolizes preservation spiritual traditions and revival of city. An azure signifies loyalty, beauty, clarity. Or barrulet is symbol of metallurgical industry. Sable and two crossed or hammers symbolize a basic industry branch - coal. They are symbol of historic past city, a foundation of which in 1777 year related to beginnings of coal mining. A mauercrown depicted in overhead part of emblem, symbolizes city status of settlement. A vert ribbon, intertwined in chaplet from feather-grass, symbolizes steppe edge nature."
