The flag and arms of Kozje are prescribed by the municipal statutes Statutarni sklep (Kozje), adopted on 21 December 1995 and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 6/96.
The flag is rectangular, in proportions 1:2, horizontally divided green-white-green with the coat of arms slightly offset towards the hoist. The coat of arms is determined to be 1/2 of the hoist high, spreading with its 1/6 of height over both green fields. The vertical axis of the coat of arms is offset towards the hoist from the middle for 1/4 of the coat of arms width.

Coat of arms of Kozje - Image by Željko Heimer, 25 August 2002
The coat of arms of Kozje was probably designed after some historical
model. It is very similar to the coat of arms of
Ljubljana, but this is probably just a
coincidence. The main difference is that the Kozje dragon has the tail
around the tower while the Ljubljana dragon has the tail encircled in
the air.
The coat of arms can be blazoned as "Gules on a tower argent a dragon vert langued of the first with the tail encircling the tower".
The description of the arms in the aforementioned statutes states
that the dragon has spread bat wings and goat horns and beard. This
last mention might be of importance since goat is canting for the
name of the place.

Table flag of Kozje - Image reconstructed by Željko Heimer, 25 August 2002
The table flag of Kozje is prescribed by Decision Odlok o simbolih Občine Kozje,
adopted on 5 October 2000 and published in the official Slovene
gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 98/2000. The coat of
arms shall be downset and appropriately rotated. The placement of
the arms here is not defined in the same detailed way as for the
horizontal flag, so the drawing shown above is only one possible
reconstruction.
The Decision gives the colour specifications as:
- Red: SCC 15
- Green: SCC 57.
