Designed by the Swedish state herald in 2006, the flag is a
simplification of a Royal Lifeguard flag used in the mid 1800s.
Kristian Söderberg, 12 May 2006
A white flag with the image of an order in its centre. The order has a round blue shield with three yellow crowns in its centre. The shield is topped by a closed royal crown and surrounded by necklace with five yellow faces and six blue crosses Lorraine. At the bottom is a white yellow fimbriated Maltese cross with four smaller faces, shaped like those in the necklace. In the centre of cross is a blue roundel with yellow ornaments. The whole is superimposing a star with 112 golden rays. Next to the flag are two golden ribbons with black inscriptions: "Svea Livgardets" and "Musketerare Corps".
I spotted this flag on 22 August 2008 on Sweden festival in Wismar. The actor
being the "captain" of the corps told me, that the original flag would have been
from 1856.
Klaus-Michael Schneider, 31 August 2008
The charge shown is not an order in itself
- it is simply the lesser coat of arms of Sweden (shield + crown) with the
neklace of the Order of Seraphim, similalry as in the
royal flag for
other members of the royal family, and all together
set on a star of rays.
