In December 23rd 1996, the Legislative meeting of Tver region
(Zakonodatelhnoe Sobranie Tverskoj oblasti) confirmed coat of arms
and flag of region. The coat of arms presents the golden throne on the red
shield, the Monomakh head-dress is lying on the seat.

According to Le cabinet des drapeaux communique…
14/98 and 15/98 [cdd],
the flag and the coat of arms were adopted on the 28th November
1996. The flag is vertically divided yellow-red-yellow (1:2:1) with the
coat of arms of the region in the middle of the red stripe. The coat of
arms is described: «gules a throne or with a cushion vert on which is
the cap of Monomakh».
