In 1952, a minor change was made in the arms. The red star of Communism was placed at the top of the arms.
This change affected all flags that had the arms on them.

Art. 102. The coat of arms of the People's Republic of Romania represents afforested mountains, over which the sun is arising. On the left side is an oil derrick. The coat of arms is surrounded by a wreath of wheat ears. On top of the coat of arms id a five-pointed star.
