About the flag

Rio Ave Futebol Clube; this club from Vila do Conde is currently in top division of our football, though never had access to the european competitions. The flag consists of 6 green and white horizontal stripes with the club’s symbol centered. The symbol consists of a brown old-fashioned foot ball where is written "RAFC", the club’s initials (below, hardly visible), over which is superimposed the coat of arms of Vila do Conde without scroll, but with mural crown: a black shield with a brown sailing boat with yellow sails navigating on green-white wavy stripes representing the sea. (This coat of arms is slightly outdated, since Vila do Conde was promoted to city status not many years ago and therefore the current arms have 5 towers in the mural crown.)
