Gmina Gościno is a rural commune in Kołobrzeg County, West Pomeranian
Voivodship, in north-western Poland.
Its seat is the village of Gościno, which lies approximately 14 kilometres
(9 mi) south-east of Kołobrzeg and 100 km (62 mi) north-east of the regional
capital Szczecin.
Area: 116.04 sq.km (44.8 sq.mi); Population: 5,136 (2006)
A typical agricultural commune - large dairy farm.
Settlement dates back to the early 13th century. Nothing remarkable
happened there, except the usual - wars, wars and more wars, and one guy,
Jan, eloped with his neighbour's daughter.
Arms and flag adopted on February 27, 2003 (resolution # V/39/2003)
"Arms: On a red field a gold defensive gate, open wide, with the silver
initial "G" in it.
Flag: rectangular triband in the ratio 5:8
Upper band - gold, middle band - silver, lower band - red.
Ceremonial flag has the Arms placed in the center of the flag."
