In Brockhaus kleines Konversations-Lexikon (1914) there is a
short summary:
28.992 km2 (1910), 2.099.831 inhabitants; capital: Posen. Regierungs
Bezirke: Posen and Bromberg.
Posen used to be part of Great Poland; ceded to Prussia in 1772 and
1793, 1807-1815 part of the Grandduchy of Warsaw, then back to Prussia.
Colors: White - Black - White;
coat of arms: Argent a Prussian eagle; on its breast an eagle argent in a shield
gules.
