During WW I the Germans kept Russian POWs in the camp nearby.
In 1942-44 there was a circle of communist sympathizers numbering 5
members.
Arms adopted on July 17, 2003 (resolution # 87/XII/2003).
"Arms: a paper mill wheel in natural colors on the green field and above
the blue field symbolizing water. On it a beige plaque with the date "1411"."
The flag is not mentioned anywhere, but, as we know it already, "a picture
is worth a thousand words", there are photographs of the local mountain
climbers proudly
displaying the commune's flag on the summit of Mingi Tau, the highest
mountain in Europe (aka Mount Elbrus) on the border of Kabardino-Balkaria
and Karachay-Cherkessia - 5,621m or 18,442 feet).
