Hyżne - rural commune, Rzeszów County, Podkarpackie Voivodship.
Gmina Hyżne is a rural gmina (rural commune) in Rzeszów County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland. Its seat is the village of Hyżne, which lies
approximately 17 kilometres (11 mi) south-east of the regional capital Rzeszów.
The commune covers an area of 50.98 square kilometres (19.7 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 6,811.

Arms and flag adopted on October 28, 2005 (resolution # XXIX/222/05).
"Arms: on the blue shield a gold cavalier cross planted on the golden hill.
On both sides of the cross are parts of the broken "buńczuk" (known in English as "horsetail ensign" - a sort of Tatar vexilloid carried into battle and made of interwined horsetail hair, set on the wooden staff and topped with either iron ball or crescent moon). The broken buńczuk commemorates the successful defense of the town of Hyżne against the Tatar onslaught in the XIII Century. The battle took place at the hill known now Tatarska Góra (Tatar Mount) hence the golden hill in the Coat of Arms.
The cross symbolizes the first parish church in Hyżne (All Saints Church) and belonging to the Rzeszów County.
The colors of the commune: Blue color is a color of the Marian cult, the skies and the faith.
Gold color stands for the Divine Majesty and nobility.
Color white symbolizes purity, honesty, peace and water.
Black color stands for the land, for the soil.
All these colors (except white) are included in the flag of the commune.

Flag: a rectangle in the ratio 5:8 divided into three horizontal bands in proportions 3:1:1.
In the canton, on the wide yellow band and overlapping the black band, the Arms of the commune are placed."
