Received city rights in 1358 from King Casimir the Great. First formal
Calvinist Assembly in Poland (1554). Headquarters of Gen.Tadeusz Kościuszko
in 1794 after the Battle of Racławice.
The present Arms and flag adopted on August 31, 2007 (resolution #
IX/66/2007). Previous Arms in use from 1990 to 2007.
The Arms present Saint Michael the Archangel raising a silver sword
and holding golden scales in his left hand. All on blue.
The Arms and flag were designed by Mr.Alfred Znamierowski.
