Miastków Kościelny commune

Miastków Kościelny - rural commune, Garwolin County, Mazowieckie Voivodship - older name: Miastków (until 1954).
Gmina Miastków Kościelny is a rural commune in Garwolin County, Masovian Voivodship, in east-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Miastków Kościelny, which lies approximately 14 kilometres (9 mi) east of Garwolin and 68 km (42 mi) south-east of Warsaw.
Area: 85.24 sq.km (32.9 sq.mi); Population: 5,019 (2006); An agricultural commune; Land under cultivation - 80%; forests - 16%

First written mention in 1424 - establishment of the parish. It used to have an archaic, hand operated wooden water pump at the Market Square before WW II.

Arms and flag adopted on March 23, 2009 (resolution # XXII/96/2009).
"Arms - on the Spanish shield and on the gold field there is a red church with the black roof and black windows and doors. On its sides there are two lilies with silver stems and golden leaves. (!Image doesn't match the description!).
Flag - a rectangle in the ratio 5:8 composed of three uneven bands in proportions of 1:3:1.
The upper and lower, narrow bands are yellow and the middle one, wide, is red. On the red band the Arms are placed."
The author of these symbols is the world-renowned vexilollogist, Mr.Alfred Znamierowski.
