The company was founded in 1862 in Stavanger by
Thomas S. Falck (1829-1889), the Norwegian consul in Newcastle (United Kingdom).
In 1936, it was renamed Jacob Falck ANS, Jacob Falck being the Swedish consul in
Stavanger. The company was eventually renamed Falck Shipping A/S in 1984. The
flag is a red swallow-tailed pennant with a white star in the middle.

Description of flag: It is a dark blue flag with a capital “F” of the same colour within a white
lozenge and fimbriated white and red at the top and bottom edge.

Much of the Fred. Olsen company is still based in
Norway, as well as in Liechtenstein, the Channel Islands, etc. The company is
involved in shipping, manufacturing of watches (Timex), etc. Fred. Olsen also
owns much land in Gomera, one of the Canary Islands, which explains the Líneas
Fred. Olsen with a houseflag similar to that of the Norwegian company but
with the colours of Spain.
