Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 24.658; area: 51,86 km². Settlements:
Noordwijk aan Zee, Noordwijk-Binnen.
Noordwijk dates from c. 2000 BC. Its written history began in the 9th
century AD, with the martyrdom of priest Jeroen in 857 and the battle of
Noordwijk in 876. It is now a popular seaside resort.
The flag of Noordwijk is a banner of arms, and was adopted on 17 Apr
1962.
Noordwijk CoA

Granted 24 Jul 1816. Description: argent a lion rampant noir. It dates
probably from the 13th century. The Count of Holland granted the right
to sign with these arms to the lord of the manor (ambachtsheer)
of Northge or Northeke (Noordwijk). The CoA was granted to the manor (ambacht)
of Noordwijk.
