Katwijk is a seaside-resort on the Northsea-coast in Zuid-Holland,
and since ancient times a fishing village with over 40.000 inhabitants.
Its present flag and CoA are blue saltires on white.
On 1 January 2006 Katwijk, Valkenburg en
Rijnsburg merged to form the new municipality
of Katwijk.
Sierksma's Nederlands Vlaggenboek (1962) [sie62]
has:
Flagdescription: Two equally wide horizontal stripes of blue and white,
with in the center the municipal arms.
This flag was adopted c. 1956; before that there was a flag in use
consisting of two stripes blue over white - which had so many parallels
in the Netherlands.

Katwijk new flag
On 16 November 2009, the "Leidsch Dagblad" reported the selection of a
new flag for Katwijk, required by the incorporation of the former municipalities
of Rijnsburg and Valkenburg into Katwijk on 1 January 2006. The flag is
described as "the cross flanked by the colours of Rijnsburg (red) and Valkenburg
(yellow).
The "cross" is a blue saltire on a white field, the former flag of
Katwijk. The Higher Council of Nobility recommended that the new flag conveys
a "feeling of identification", accordingly a blue saltire. The flag still
needs to be formally adopted by the Municipal Council of Katwijk.
